Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound and her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out on July 21 in 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's references. Later in the year, her music was circulating throughout Dreamville. Then, in December of 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna was contracted by Dreamville Records. On the album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat with Cozz. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared as a guest performer on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. On the 9th of November, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then, on November 13 the singer released two new singles entitled The No One or Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
